Former Tennessee Vols slugger Christian Moore caps a hot pro start with a big leap

Well, that didn't take long.  Former Tennessee Vols INF Christian Moore is moving up in the minor leagues.

Moore has reportedly been promoted from low-A ball up to double AA after a red-hot showing during his first week.

Moore was drafted with the eighth overall pick of the Los Angeles Angels in last month's MLB Draft, and he has wasted little time showing off the bat that drew the Angels' attention.

In just two games in low-A ball with Inland Empire, Moore went 6-11 with a home run, double, triple, and 6 runs batted in.  That's a pretty great way to speed track your way towards the big club.

It continues the momentum of a massive year for Moore .  He left records in his wake throughout 2024, setting the Tennessee baseball program records for single-season (34) and career home runs (61).  He became the second player in College World Series history to hit for the cycle, doing so in UT's magical 12-11 come from behind win over Florida State that sparked a run to the Vols' first-ever national championship .

And with the way Los Angeles promotes their high-end draft picks, who's to say Moore won't end up on the Angels roster early next season?  The Angels' 2022 (Zach Neto) and 2023 (Nolan Schanuel) first-round picks are already both on the roster.  Former Vol Ben Joyce got the call up in 2023 after getting drafted by the Angels in 2022.

If Moore continues his momentum, we could end up seeing Joyce and Moore - who played together in Knoxville in 2022 - back together as teammates in 2025.
