ROGERS, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — People wanting to help in the community after a tornado ripped through Rogers can sign up with a local organization that will have boots on the ground this morning.

Sheep Dog Impact Assistance said they are always looking for volunteers. SDIA’ John Parker said recovery will most likely take days. Yesterday, crews were helping remove debris and it was a tough day.

“It was a really rough day, today’s probably going to be even tougher, but we’ve got a place for everyone,” Parker said.

SDIA needs volunteers who are chainsaw certified. Volunteers could expect to help remove debris from roadways, and driveways and removing up tree limbs. Parker said that volunteers will be helping in many different ways.

He said they are working with emergency response management teams to find out how they can help the community.

People can sign up and help this morning. People can find sign-up information on the SDIA website.

SDIA was founded in 2010 as a national nonprofit headquartered in Rogers, Ark . It was started to helped veterans and first responders “get off the couch” to help mental wellness through outdoor activities, volunteering and mental wellbeing training.
