BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Severe weather at Soar NWA on Aug. 16, including strong winds, caused many events to be canceled and made the event’s hot air balloon and helicopter rides unsafe.

However, the fifth Soar NWA event continued on Aug. 17 with a full schedule of activities. Attendees enjoyed live music from the Chris Arcana Band and Coffee Anderson, a VIP meet-and-greets, pony rides and various other shows throughout the evening.

Arkansas’s state symbols: Do you know them all?

“It’s just a good community event,” Jeff Hairston, training center & facilities director for Open Avenues, said. “There is something here for everyone, whether you [are] two years old or 90 years old, there’s something you’re going to enjoy.”

The two-day event provides an opportunity for people to learn more about Open Avenues and its efforts to offer vocational training for disabled adults, helping them secure jobs in the community, according to Hairston.

All proceeds from the event go to Open Avenues .
