    Debris pickup in NWA following Aug. 16 storms

    FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — After storms on Aug. 16 caused widespread power outages and damages in Northwest Arkansas, two cities are offering debris pickup services.

    Bella Vista

    Starting Monday, Aug. 26, the City of Bella Vista will offer storm debris removal for residential areas west of U.S. Hwy. 71 only, according to a news release.

    Debris must be less than 10 feet long and stacked parallel to the street with the larger ends facing the same direction. Residents should place debris 10 feet from the edge of the road, not in the roadway, according to the release.

    The collection crew will only make one pass through Bella Vista. With over 400 streets to clear and ongoing road resurfacing projects, the order of collection may vary, according to the release.

    The following items are not eligible for pick-up:

    • Grass clippings
    • Stumps, root balls
    • Construction debris
    • Household trash
    • Hazardous waste

    Centerton

    From Aug. 26 to Aug. 29, Centerton Public Works (CPW) will pick up tree debris caused by storm damage, according to CPW Director Anthony Martinez .

    All debris must be placed at the curb no later than Monday, Aug. 26. CPW will pick up any vegetative debris (limbs, branches, trunks).

    The following items are not eligible for pick-up:

    • Household items
    • Construction debris
    • Fences
    • Chemicals
    • Rootballs
    • Landscaping materials
