With the Mega Millions jackpot climbing up to $681 million, the lines are starting to get a little longer at Bluebird Liquor in Hawthorne, which is known as a lottery hot spot.

No one has scored a Mega Millions jackpot since June, which means there have been 25 straight drawings without a winner. A clerk at Bluebird, which has sold multiple winning tickets over the years, told KNX News’ Jon Baird that as the jackpot grows, so do their sales.

“Once it gets to like half a billion and up, every like $100 million it goes up, it's like progressively more and more people,” he said. “We've had two news crews in the past week that have been here … We had people from, I think, the San Fernando Valley that came yesterday to buy like $10 worth of Mega. And I'm like, you came from San Fernando Valley? They're like, yeah, we, we heard about the Bluebird.”

Rodney, a Los Angeles resident who walked into Bluebird for a Mega Millions ticket, said he thinks he has a legitimate shot at it. He’s done well with tickets bought from the liquor store in the past.

“Over the last two years I've won maybe about $2500 on scratches, but I haven't spent that much. That’s the key,” he said.
