MIAMI, Okla. (KOAM) -- Ottawa County residents Thursday had a chance to learn about resources available to those affected by the Tar Creek Superfund Site.

Federal, state, and tribal officials were on hand at the Miami Civic Center for an open house to connect people with resources and answer questions about cleanup efforts.

Thursday's meeting focused on the importance of getting children blood tested for lead poisoning and free soil cleanup for residents.

The Tar Creek area was designated as a superfund site decades ago following high levels of chat pollution.
