Diamond beats Willow Springs 13-3 in state semifinals

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Diamond High School softball fell behind 3-1 in the early to middle innings of Monday's state semifinal game against Willow Springs.

Entering the game, the Wildcats had not lost to a team from Missouri all season.

They entered the bottom of the 5th facing a 3-2 deficit.

Diamond's bats roared to life that half inning -- scoring 10 runs and opening up a 12-3 lead.

The Wildcats tacked on one more in the 6th to end the game early, and punch their ticket to the class 2 state championship.

Diamond will play Kennett in the state title game at 11 AM on Tuesday.

The Indians won their semifinal 11-4 over Lone Jack.
