PSU unveils "blackout" football game uniform with black gorilla on white helmet

PITTSBURG, Kan. (KOAM) - There was a big reveal Friday night at PSU.

Pittsburg State University's athletic department showed off new uniforms to be worn at a "blackout" game.

The Gorillas are hosting the "blackout" game against Ferris State to open the season on August 31st, 2024, at 7:00 p.m.

The game features two of the top football programs in the nation, with Ferris State ranked #3 in the AFCA Division II preseason poll and the Gorillas ranked #6.

The school is using the blackout theme to raise awareness and money for the Silverback Fund.

The uniform is inspired by the Silverback Fund, which supports Pitt State student-athlete scholarships for all Gorilla Athletics programs.
