A Claiborne County contractor received yet another delay as he appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on fraud and other charges. The hearing was for Joe Bray, a popular race car driver at the Tazewell dirt track. In his day job, Bray did business under the name of Bray Roofing.

Metro Nashville wins lawsuit against Tennessee challenging council size
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The size of Metro Council will not be reduced after the Nashville government won a lawsuit against the State of Tennessee. In 2023, the Tennessee General Assembly passed a law capping the number of Metro Council to 20 members, cutting the body in half. That law was then signed into law by Governor Bill Lee on March 9, 2023.

The University of Michigan Solar Car Team on Sunday won the American Solar Challenge, an eight-day, distance-based race from Tennessee to Wyoming. The team covered 2,120 miles in their vehicle, called Astrum, before crossing the finish line in Casper, Wy. PFPD: Woman taken to hospital for injuries after tree falls on camper during storms
PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. — A woman was rescued by the Pigeon Forge Police Department and the Pigeon Forge Fire Department after a tree fell onto a camper, according to police. At around 9:38 p.m., PFPD and PFFD responded to Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resorts on reports of a tree falling on a camper. Police said after arriving on the scene, they transported a woman to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for injuries.

Although the project is not in Mississippi, when completed, it will likely affect hundreds of thousands of Mississippi drivers who travel north on I-55 every year. Officials in Tennessee have announced plans to replace the I-55 bridge over the Mississippi River in Memphis — a route that connects much of Mississippi to Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois. The project is slated to cost nearly $800 million.
