Alcoa leaders conduct study to learn how to improve Hall Road, address safety concerns
ALCOA, Tenn. — Alcoa leaders and the Tennessee Department of Transportation held a meeting on Tuesday, aimed at learning way the community wanted Hall Road to improve. The section road runs through much of Alcoa, spanning almost 2 miles. For many people, it's a main road used to access businesses and residential areas alike, connecting to Alcoa Highway and leading to Washington Street. At Tuesday's meeting, several people said safety improvements were their primary concern.

If a member of the public desires to speak at the meeting, he or she may do so in the manner provided in the Jefferson County’s public input policy. Knoxville leaders present plans for new Lonsdale Park built on site of empty school
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Knoxville leaders are preparing to start work to build a new Lonsdale Park at the site of the now-empty Sam E. Hill School. Leaders said the school's gymnasium would be preserved, while the rest of the 150,000 square-foot site would be developed to make room for sports, children's play areas and a space for community events. On Tuesday, city leaders are expected to present plans for the new park.
Knoxville's Cumberland Avenue Closed Due to Gas Main Break, Emergency Crews onsite
A gas main break in Knoxville caused a significant part of Cumberland Avenue to be shut down this afternoon. The incident was quickly attended by the Knoxville Fire Department and the Knoxville Utilities Board. According to representatives of the KFD, the break occurred around 2:15 p.m., and the section of the road between 20th Street and 22nd Street was consequently closed to traffic and pedestrians.

Father plans to sue after son's deadly Rod Run scooter crash in Pigeon Forge
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — A grieving father said he is planning to sue after his son was killed during this year's Rod Run in Pigeon Forge. Jeremy Hanes Jr., who went by Kyle, died after a scooter crash on April 18. He was riding along the parkway when he got close to an intersection with stopped traffic. That's when a passenger in a pickup truck opened his door and Hanes slammed into it.
