PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Two people were arrested Tuesday night after allegedly committing a drive-by shooting that injured a man in Kelso, Wash. then traveling to Oregon and hiding in a portable toilet.

At 6:50 p.m., the Kelso Police Department said officers responded to a reported shooting in the area of West Cowlitz Way and Catlin Street . Law enforcement from Kelso Police, Longview Police and the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office all responded, officials said.

Upon arrival, Kelso police officers located 31-year-old Cody Tamayo suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a trauma center but his medical condition is “being withheld,” officials said.

“Within one hour of the incident, Columbia County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect’s vehicle unoccupied in Rainier, Oregon and began searching for the offenders,” Kelso police said in a release.

At 11:25 p.m., the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office “received information the suspects were hiding in a portable toilet in proximity to where the suspect vehicle was abandoned.”
