    Portland weekend events: Multnomah Days, Adult Soapbox Derby, Bookstore Romance Day

    PORTLAND, Ore. ( KOIN ) — Don’t let the potential for a couple of rainy days ahead cancel your plans.

    There are still plenty of ways to spend this weekend in Portland.

    Amtrak Cascades records surge in ridership among Oregonians

    Come Together: A Burlesque Tribute to The Beatles

    When: Friday, Aug. 16 at 8 p.m.
    Where: Alberta Rose Theatre, 3000 NE Alberta St, Portland, OR 97211

    Legendary band The Beatles will serve as the soundtrack for this burlesque show featuring local performers. “…It will most definitely be a night to twist, shout, and tassel twirl to The Beatles like you’ve never experienced before!” organizers said.

    Xtreme Xperience

    When: Friday, Aug. 16 through Sunday, Aug. 18
    Where: Portland International Raceway, 1940 N Victory Blvd, Portland, OR 97217

    Xtreme Xperience is offering $79 ride-alongs or “supercar xperiences” starting at $249 for those who want to ride in exotic cars like Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Porsches. Professional instructors will teach participants how to drive along the raceway.

    Multnomah Days

    When: Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
    Where: Multnomah Village neighborhood, Portland, OR 97280

    The Multnomah Village Business Association will host this family-friendly festival with more than 120 vendors, a parade, food and beverage carts and more.

    Providence Park gets makeover before Foo Fighters concert

    Portland Adult Soapbox Derby

    When: Saturday, Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
    Where: Mt. Tabor Park, SE 60th Ave &, SE Salmon St, Portland, OR 97215

    On the third Saturday of August each year, the Portland Soapbox Derby brings multiple teams to Mt. Tabor Park to race their creative cars. The event is commemorating its 25th anniversary.

    “Pulp Fiction” with The Gents of Chaos

    When: Saturday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m.
    Where: Tomorrow Theater, 3530 SE Division St, Portland, OR 97202

    To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction,” the Tomorrow Theater is hosting a screening of the film coupled with a performance from The Gents of Chaos . Attendees will leave with a free month subscription to streaming service MUBI.

    Bookstore Romance Day

    When: Saturday, Aug. 17 and Sunday, Aug. 18
    Where: Multiple Powell’s Books locations

    Powell’s is joining in on Bookstore Romance Day with free and ticketed events across each of its brick-and-mortar locations. The Hawthorne location will offer a “blind date with a book” throughout the weekend, while the Cedar Hills store will host a book lover’s brunch on Sunday.

    Ole Bolle’s First Birthday Celebration​​

    When: Sunday, Aug. 18 at 2 p.m.
    Where: Nordic Northwest, 8800 SW Oleson Rd, Portland, OR 97223

    Ole Bolle, the troll sculpture that Danish artist Thomas Dambo brought to the Rose City last summer, is celebrating its first birthday. The festivities will include singing from the Portland Nordic Chorus, a toast to Ole Bolle and a birthday cake unveiling.
