KOKOMO, Ind. — A Kokomo teen who was implicated in a 2022 shooting has taken a plea deal.

According to Indiana’s public court reporting system, Michael Pullums pleaded guilty to aggravated battery when the assault poses a substantial risk of death — a Level 3 Felony. The following charges Pullums faced were dismissed as part of the plea deal:

    • Attempted murder, a Level 1 Felony
    • Criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 Felony
    • Attempt to commit voluntary manslaughter, a Level 2 Felony

Pullums was sentenced to nine years with the Indiana Department of Correction on Monday. He received 434 days of jail credit and 2,708 days of his sentence were suspended.

Pullums was involved in a shooting that happened at a gas station in Kokomo on May 17, 2022 . Pullums, who was 16 years old at the time, shot another then-16-year-old multiple times.

Pullums’ case was filed in adult felony court on May 20, 2022.

Previous reporting indicates the juvenile Pullums shot was also arrested just weeks after the shooting. The juvenile Pullums shot was arrested for bringing a gun to school on June 6, 2022.

Like Pullums, the juvenile who brought a gun to school was also tried as an adult. In compliance with company policies, FOX59 and CBS4 will not be naming the juvenile who was arrested for bringing a gun to school.
