ROGERSVILLE, Mo. — After three years of flipping a church into their family home, the 100-year-old Rogersville church home is now for sale.

“It is ready to be sold now as one-half Airbnb and the other half a wedding venue,” said owner Joshua Morley. “We have nearly finished half of the house where it has a master bedroom, baby’s room and two other kids’ rooms. We now have a finished floor in that half as well.”

After three years and approximately $200,000 invested in renovation efforts, the family is now seeking a new owner. Offering three bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms, the property, listed by The J.R. Hutcheson Real Estate Team, is available for $349,500.

The historic building was constructed in 1912 and established as the United Methodist church in 1936. The Rogersville United Methodist Church hosted its final congregation in January 2019.

OzarksFirst interviewed the Morleys for the first time in 2021, as they were in the process of renovating the church to host their wedding ceremony in the chapel situated within their home.

At the time, the couple was in a long-distance relationship with Morley in Utah and Danae in Missouri. When the price of the church dropped from $1 million to $190,000 the purchase seemed like it was meant to be.

After months of renovations, the Morleys completed the sanctuary of their church home. They married in 2022 and then welcomed a fifth member to the family later that year.

In April 2022, while prying out the cornerstone, Morley found a time capsule hidden behind it.

Inside, they found an old bible signed by the pastor at the time that said, “Cornerstone Ceremony June 14th, 1936, Pastor Lee F. Soxman.” They also found letters with information about the people in the congregation, the history of the church when it was built in 1912, and songs and prayers during the cornerstone ceremony. The letter also explained why they remodeled it in 1936.

Morley and his wife Danae said they are moving on to the next big adventure, but want to keep it private.

“We have some interesting things coming up, but we are not sure how they are going to work out quite yet,” said Morley.
