MONETT, MO–To those who live and breathe short track racing, the name, Larry Phillips, is synonymous with success, champion, pioneer, and icon.

Named one of the top-75 drivers in NASCAR history in 2023, the late Phillips has a race named in his honor, the Larry Phillips Memorial.

That race was hosted at the Monett Motor Speedway, Sunday night. USRA Dirt Modified teams from all around the Ozarks and five states descended upon the short, dirt track to race for glory, money, and remember the legend of the sport.

Larry’s son, short track Hall of Fame racer, Terry helped put on the event and compete in it. Terry naturally grew up in the sport, and, eventually, won more than 500 races in his career. His success has helped carry the Phillips name, proudly for several decades.
