SPRINGFIELD, Mo–The high school football season will kick off for real a week from Friday.

But there is action on grid iron’s around the Show-Me State.

    It’s jamboree Friday.

And KOLR 10’s Chris Pinson is standing by live at Kickapoo with more, Chris.

Hey Dan, while the jamboree doesn’t count for or against any of the three teams in action, it certainly has all the energy of a regular season contest.

And the coaching staffs of Kickapoo, Nixa, and Ozark high school are certainly treating it that way.

However, during the competition, a game clock, nor play clock will be used and score won’t be kept.

Instead, the real evaluation will be done via play count.

18 Plays to be exact for the offense and defense.

With only two of the three teams will play at one time, using entire field.

Because tonight is truly all about getting the kids used to live reps and staying healthy ahead of next week’s season opener.

“With our ones just going 18 total plays, it’ll be different for them. We haven’t gone live really hardly but about two days. So 18 plays and that central nervous system rolling. That’s what we need,” said Kickapoo coach Nate Thomas.
