Friday, August 30 forecast: Done with the oven, time to be lovin’ this weather

    By Tom Schmidt,

As of midday Friday, popup showers have developed in a random pattern across portions of Central and Southern Missouri and Northern Arkansas. These showers are acting ahead of the cold front and will continue into the early afternoon. The cold front itself will come through later this afternoon.

This boundary will be a focus for afternoon and evening storms when the cold front begins to push in from the northwest. Pockets of heavy rain of 1-3″ are possible, however most spots will likely pick up a half inch or less.

The front will stall in southern Missouri and create additional rain chances on Saturday. Scattered rain showers are likely Saturday morning near and south of I-44 moving south of the state line later in the day.

Another cold front on Sunday will do a fine job of cleaning up any leftover rain in northern Arkansas and skies will become sunny Sunday afternoon. Otherwise, the weekend will be mild in the mid-80s.

Labor Day will be great with temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s. Plenty of sunshine too with light winds. Enjoy the day off if you have it!

The early fall feel will continue as we head back to work Tuesday. The overall pattern next week has a mild and dry look with temperatures slowly warming back up by week’s end.
