POLK COUNTY, Mo. — A Humansville man is in jail and charged with a string of felonies after allegedly shooting at two people outside his home.

Online court records show that Timothy Scott Heidemann, born 1988, is charged with:

    • two counts of first-degree assault
    • two counts of armed criminal action
    • unlawful use of a weapon
    • first-degree property damage

A probable cause statement from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) says deputies responded to East Fisher Street in Humansville at about 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 3 for a report of shots fired.

After Heidemann was taken into custody, documents say he spontaneously told deputies he “did something stupid”, and admitted to firing two shots.

According to the probable cause statement, Heidemann continued to tell deputies that he had been working on a car when the victims arrived and parked at the edge of his yard. Heidemann said he told the male victim they couldn’t park there, and an argument ensued.

Documents say Heidemann claimed he approached the male, who then shoved him into the victims’ vehicle. Heidemann told deputies he tried to punch the male, who tried punching back before pulling out a pocket knife. Heidemann said the victim “came at him in an aggressive way” before he went inside the house to get a pistol. The probable cause statement says Heidemann told deputies he fired once in the air and once at the victims’ vehicle.

Cameras on the house captured part of the incident, according to court documents, which show Heidemann carrying a chain at one point in the video. PCSO said the audio from the cameras captured two men yelling at each other, but the sound was muffled and made it difficult to determine exactly what was said. Two gunshots were also heard on the recording.

The probable cause statement says the male victim told deputies that Heidemann had tried punching him with a chain wrapped around his fist. The victims also said they took cover on the other side of their vehicle after the first gunshot, as Heidemann proceeded to fire a round through their car window. Documents say the passenger window and windshield of the victims’ vehicle suffered serious damage.

A witness across the street told PCSO that he had seen Heidemann yelling at the man and woman, then attempting to punch the male victim, according to court documents. The witness also said the victim had tried to avoid Heidemann, but Heidemann slammed the victim into his own vehicle.

Heidemann is currently being held in the Polk County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
