MISSOURI – Five universities in Missouri are now offering direct admissions to some prospective college students without the need to fill out an application.

Dozens of universities nationwide have partnered with education-based website Niche to streamline the college admissions process through a direct admissions program .

The program allows high school senior to get accepted into various colleges and qualify for scholarships based on information in their Niche profile.

According to Niche, the Missouri institutions participating in the program include…

    • University of Missouri – St. Louis (UMSL) – St. Louis
    • Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) – Cape Girardeau
    • Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) – Rolla
    • University of Central Missouri (UCM) – Warrensburg
    • Northwest Missouri State University (NWMO) – Maryville

Students who meet certain criteria, such as GPAs, test scores and academic interests, could be automatically accepted to the university.

The program comes in an effort to boost student enrollment. UMSL officials tell St. Louis Public Radio that the program intends to reduce stress that comes with college applications and also simplify the process for first-generation or low-income students.

Prospective students involved in the program are also encouraged to tour colleges participating in the program. For more information about the Niche Direct Admissions program, click here .
