KPCW celebrates 44 years of local news
Since then, the station has grown its news coverage, its staff and its studios. KPCW was first located on Main St. upstairs in “the bunker” of the historic War Memorial building, then owned by Park City and now The Marquis Park City. In 1985, the station expanded and broadcast from the first level of City Hall, the Marsac Building. In 1992, the station became an affiliate of NPR and in 2008, the station moved into its new studios on Swede Alley which were nearly doubled in size with a remodel in 2020.
Petition seeks to delay renewal of Park City School District superintendent’s contract until 2025
Board President Andrew Caplan told KPCW in June the board intends to renew Superintendent Jill Gildea’s contract this year. Now some residents are pushing back. Josh Mann and Karl Persson, who both have students in Park City public schools, posted the petition June 30. It requests Gildea’s contract not be considered for renewal until voters elect new board members in November and take office next year.

Park City extends lease for Swede Alley liquor store

Oakley’s first July 4 pickleball tournament billed as Summit County’s largest
Two hundred eighty-five players registered for the tournament, which runs July 5 and 6. The city is hosting the event at the 12 outdoor pickleball courts at the Oakley Recreation/Rodeo Complex. Built last summer, the complex is the largest dedicated pickleball facility in Summit County. In a press release, Oakley City claims the tournament is also the largest ever held in the county.

Fifth man arrested in Browns Canyon party shooting

Summit County man arrested for lewdness in Highland Estates
The Summit County Sheriff’s Office says someone reported a nude man walking down Highland Drive late Sunday. Summit County Jail offers in-house motivation program to reduce repeat offenders
A program started by a Summit County sergeant last year is helping to keep people who have served time from going back to jail. The program, titled “Motiversity,” is the brainchild of Summit County Sheriff Sgt. Christina De La Cruz. She explains it’s one of several programs offered by the jail. She developed it last August after speaking to an inmate who wanted to turn his life around.
