In Kissimmee, Florida, a breakthrough in a 12-year-old mystery emerged as volunteer divers, part of the Sunshine State Sonar group, potentially discovered the remains of Sandra Lemire in a vehicle immersed in a Walt Disney World-area retention pond.

The disappearance of Sandra Lemire dates back to May 2012, when she vanished after leaving a restaurant in Kissimmee. She was last spotted driving the minivan that was recently located in the pond.

The volunteer divers had devoted extensive efforts over the past year and a half to searching through 63 bodies of water in pursuit of finding any trace of Lemire. Their relentless search finally saw a glimmer of hope after receiving a tip from an Orlando Police Department detective. The detective provided information about the location of a cellphone tower that had received the last call from Lemire's phone. This crucial detail significantly narrowed down the search to the particular retention pond.

Their social media statement conveyed the discovery, stating, “We located what appeared to be a minivan submerged in 14 feet of water. As soon as possible, our team dressed up and jumped under the car to confirm the license plate.

This discovery offers a significant lead in resolving the longstanding mystery surrounding Lemire's disappearance, potentially bringing closure to her family and friends who have been awaiting answers for over a decade.
