DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Starting today, the City of Dallas will be issuing warnings for any parked vehicle that doesn't have its registration up to date.

This comes after approval from the City Council for safety reasons. Residents began complaining that cars were being left on the public street for repair and/or resale purposes. Because of this vehicle parts and containers were being left in the roadways.

In some cases, fluids were being released on the street and were flowing into storm drains. So from now until September you will receive a warning if vehicles do not display a current registration, have a registration expired for two months or longer, or have a temporary license plate expired for 30 days or longer.

After September fines will be handed out starting at $45. They already are doing this in Garland.
