Heat Advisories, Excessive Heat Warnings in effect for most of North Texas

The wind shifted to the east across parts of North Texas on Tuesday morning as slightly cooler air filtered in from the eastern half of the United States. It's still going to be hot, but not as hot as it has been the past couple of days. Dallas, Fort Worth, Denton, Waxahachie, and Kaufman are under Heat Advisories. Excessive Heat Warnings have been pushed to the west of DFW and will remain out there through the rest of the week. No advisories or warnings for McKinney, Sherman, and areas to the east for Tuesday.

Temperatures will range from the upper 90s to the east of DFW, near 100 at DFW Airport, and several degrees above 100 to the west of Interstate 35W. A nice easterly breeze will blow at 10 to 20 mph.

Temperatures on Wednesday morning will be in the 70s with some clouds around.

Wednesday through early next week, afternoon highs will be near 100 degrees and even hotter to the west of Interstate 35W. This is where Excessive Heat Warnings will continue. Late Thursday, areas 60-80 miles to the south of the Dallas-Fort Worth area could see some rain. Same distance to the northwest of DFW on Friday.
