It will be slightly cooler on Wednesday, but still hot into the weekend, as Heat Advisories and Excessive Heat Warnings slide off to the west and south of Dallas-Fort Worth. All of North Texas will experience poor air quality through the rest of the week.

The cold front that backed into the area on Tuesday has stalled about 70 miles to the west of Dallas-Fort Worth. Wednesday morning featured an east wind at 10-15 mph and temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to the east to low 80s.

It will be mostly sunny and hot Wednesday with a high near 100 degrees, but cooler to the east and warmer to the west of DFW. Rinse and repeat this forecast through the rest of the week. There is a slight chance of some rain south of Waco on Thursday and well to the northwest of DFW on Friday. Heat index values will range from 100-110 from east to west, with the hottest weather staying west of Highway 281.

The weekend's looking equally as nice with afternoon highs near 100 degrees.

There will be an increase in humidity next week with afternoon highs in the upper 90s on Monday and Tuesday.

The latest extended weather data continues to show signs of a pattern change by the end of next week, with rain possibly returning to the area and cooler temperatures.
