Texas is projected to pass 30 million people by 2030, and by that point, North Texas will have more than 9 million residents.

The State Comptroller is warning of a housing shortage that's already here...and getting worse. Comptroller Glenn Hegar’s latest report reveals that Texas is short by over 300,000 homes, putting upward pressure on prices and making it harder for Texans to find affordable housing.

The report also notes that rising costs like homeowners’ insurance and high interest rates are adding to the burden. Hegar stresses the need for regulatory changes and increased investment in housing to address the growing affordability crisis in the state.
