( KRON ) — A woman was killed after her car caught fire in Oakland on Tuesday night, the Oakland Fire Department said. The woman was living in the car inside a garage space, per fire officials.

OFD responded to the fire on the 1900 block of 26th Avenue at 10:27 p.m. The car was fully engulfed with the victim still inside.

The victim was not able to make it out and died at the scene. There was a grill and various debris in the garage, the fire department said.

The fire was contained to the garage and nearby buildings were not affected, according to the fire department.

Google Earth’s street view shows a row of 12 small enclosed garages on the 1900 block of 26th Avenue with a “now leasing” sign on top. OFD said the garage spaces do not belong to residents of buildings on the same street.
