(KRON) — Luxury Lamborghinis and classic Ferraris do not get a free pass for driving fast on Central Coast roadways leading up to the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Monterey Car Week is an annual celebration of “automotive excellence,” event organizers said. Highlights include the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance car show, an exclusive gathering at The Quail, vintage racing at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, and RM Sotheby’s Auction.

Monterey Car Week also attracts visitors driving to and from events on their own fancy cars. Over the past two days California Highway Patrol officers have been busy pulling over speeding supercars.

CHP Monterey officers pulled over nine flashy cars simultaneously for speeding on Highway 1 and handed drivers citations. “Speeding is dangerous!” the CHP wrote alongside a video of the eye-catching vehicles .

Speeding has also been a problem on curvy Highway 17 in Santa Cruz County.

CHP Santa Cruz wrote, “Hey car enthusiasts! Drive the speed limit when heading to Monterey County for car week. This supercar was stopped for going 20 mph over the speed limit on Highway 17. Safety should always come first on the road, no matter how excited you may be about the event.”
