KRQE Cares hosts Shoes For Kids phone bank on August 13

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – KRQE Cares is holding a phone bank fundraiser for its Shoes For Kids initiative on Tuesday, August 13, from 4 – 7 p.m. Shoes For Kids helps children in Title I schools receive a new pair of shoes. To go with their new pair of shoes, children are also provided with a snack, book, dental supplies and socks.

KRQE’s community relations director Carolyn Rush says it’s important to make sure each child at the school gets a pair of shoes to give them a boost of confidence and make sure no one feels left out. The program’s work would not be possible without the generous donations of viewers and sponsors. To help support Shoes for Kids you can donate online at any time or call during the phone bank at 1-877-715-7400 between 4 – 7 p.m.

Through the Shoes for Kids program, over 30,000 pairs of shoes have been put on children who need them since 2015. Shoes For Kids has reached kids outside of Albuquerque, including Moriarty, Bernalillo, Rio Rancho, Los Lunas and several reservations. The program is in partnership with the Assistance League of ABQ, a non-profit organization that serves the Albuquerque area. All donations are directly given to the Assistance League of ABQ for the purchase of shoes and socks that go to the kids.
