LOS ALAMOS, N.M. (KRQE) – The Los Alamos County Ice Rink has announced its new Zamboni’s official name: Luke Icewalker. In January, the ice rink got its new machine and began a naming contest for it; from January to mid-May, the county received over 200 name ideas.

Through the month of August, community members were invited to vote on their favorite out of the top ten selected names. The winning name, Luke Icewalker, was submitted by 5-year-old Asher, who, according to the county, is a regular at the ice rink. The 5-year-old was awarded 10 free visits to the rink and a remote-controlled cooler displaying the Zamboni’s name as a prize.
