[1] Albuquerque City Councilors scrutinize social media posts made by APD – City Councilors called out APD’s Director of Communication for recent social media posts they deemed as “inappropriate.” The department’s social media posts from two days ago criticized people’s opinions and some posts are digs at personal preferences. Multiple city councilors spoke about Gilbert Gallegos’ actions. KRQE News 13 reached out to the mayor’s office which sent a statement: “ We’re focused on big issues, we don’t micromanage Twitter banter. We support the department and their ability to push back on misinformation online. “

[2] Prosecutors want Baldwin ruling reconsidered – Nearly two months after a judge dismissed the case against actor Alec Baldwin in Santa Fe, prosecutors are hoping to have the manslaughter charges reinstated. The case was dismissed after the judge ruled the prosecution failed to disclose evidence regarding the ammunition collected by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Department. Prosecutors claim if the defense knew about the ammo before the trial, there was no violation of Baldwin’s due process rights. So far, no court date has been set on when the motion could be heard.

[3] Some rain & breezier weather ahead for New Mexico – Moisture from the east, as well as the Northern Mountains, along with just enough daytime heating, will lead to more areas receiving heavier doses of rainfall. While most of the region will still be mostly dry to start, storms will become most likely in the San Juan Mountains, the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, the Northeastern Highlands, and eventually along the Rio Grande Valley to the Pecos River Valley.

[4] Employees at an Albuquerque senior center help save a life – After saving a life, two City of Albuquerque employees are getting recognition from city councilors. Last month at the Palo Duro Senior Center, Kim Sears was having trouble breathing as a clot was stopping blood flow to his heart. The center’s manager, Davide Goode, took action and started chest compressions while another employee, Manuel Ibuado called 9-1-1. Sears is well on his way to making a full recovery after a three-day stay in the hospital.

[5] 2024 New Mexico State Fair – Thursday, September 5 is opening day at the New Mexico State Fair. Opening day features discounts including $2 admission per person with $2 per ride tickets. All vendors offer one regular menu item for $5 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. The state fair runs through Sunday, September 15.
