Argyle's Touch-A-Truck Event at Farmers Market Promises Family Fun and Education with Local Emergency Services
Argyle residents geared up for a day of interaction and education with an opportunity to get up close with emergency service vehicles. The Argyle Farmers Market invited families to its 'Touch-A-Truck' event, held last Saturday, as announced by the Argyle Police Department. The function included a range of vehicles such as fire trucks and ambulances along with the personnel who operate them. Visitors enjoyed an engaging experience, whether they were there to ask officers questions or just to feel the machinery.

The City is introducing Rep’d, a video engagement tool for residents to receive video responses from staff, complementing existing outreach efforts. In response to visibility concerns at Nottingham Drive and East University Drive, TxDOT will trim vegetation to improve safety. Tony Puente, Denton Municipal Electric’s general manager, has been appointed to the Texas Public Power Association Finance Committee. Several council member requests include securing a fire-damaged building, exploring an all-way stop at East Prairie and North Bradshaw, and addressing issues like street repairs, utility wires, and trash service. Various other inquiries, including a special event application and the Downtown Quiet Zones project, are also being addressed by city staff.

Summer temperatures are still here, but summer vacation is ending for many of our families with kids. School begins on Aug. 13, which means school buses, school drop-off and pickup lines and many kids walking to school or riding their bikes, scooters or other micro-mobility devices. Let’s all remember to slow down in the school zones, watch for the kids, pay attention to the school crossing guards, and obey their signals. If we all focus on our surroundings and remember to be patient, we can make this the best start to the school year yet.
Jane Ruestmann Elementary Teams Up With Argyle West for Inaugural Bike Safety Rally in Northlake
Community engagement took a pedal-powered leap forward at the JRE's 1st Annual Bike Safety Rally, which unfolded with enthusiasm and a focus on youth safety. Jane Ruestmann Elementary, in concert with AISD Argyle West Elementary, hosted the event, bringing children and families together in an educational and fun-filled setting. Several local agencies, including Northlake Police and Denton County Emergency Services District #1, were on hand to provide essential bike safety tips and to ensure helmet fittings, as noted by the Argyle ISD Police Department.
