1 dead, 2nd injured in shooting Saturday afternoon in KCMO's Historic Northeast

Police also released the victim's identity — David C. Cromwell, 22.

ORIGINAL STORY | One man is dead and a second was injured in a shooting Saturday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri's Historic Northeast Neighborhood.

At about 4:15 p.m., officers responded to the 300 block of Maple Boulevard on reports of shots being fired into a vehicle.

Officers later learned the vehicle that was shot into had left the scene.

Minutes later, officers were called to Smart and Bales avenues on reports of a shooting.

On arrival, they located two men who'd been shot.

One of the men was unresponsive inside the vehicle; the second was outside the vehicle.

The unresponsive man died at the scene, while the second man was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

No word on what led to the violence.
