Two bodies were found in rubble after an explosion destroyed a home in rural Excelsior Springs early Friday morning.

Shortly before 5 a.m., the Clay County Sheriff's Office began receiving calls about a house explosion in the 14000 block of Kimberly Drive.

Deputies responded to the scene and found the home completely destroyed and a fire burning.

The impact of the explosion was seen and felt from miles away, the sheriff's office said.

Neighbors reported their doors were blown open as a result of the explosion.

Deputies located a dead dog and it's believed it died as a result of the explosion.

No foul play is suspected in the explosion; the home used propane for its energy source.

No neighbors were injured but some reported damages to their home.

The sheriff's office said the victims would be identified after next of kin were notified.

KSHB 41 received doorbell video from a resident who lives miles away from the explosion.
