1 killed in double shooting late Tuesday morning in south Kansas City

Two men were shot late Tuesday morning in south Kansas City, Missouri, police said.

Officers were called to the 9600 block of Dittman Way just before 10:45 a.m.

On arrival, officers found two men who'd been shot in front of a home in the area.

Both men were transported to an area hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries.

The second men suffered injuries not considered to be life-threatening, police said.

A preliminary investigation found the man shot to death arrived at the home before the shooting and an altercation ensued.

The altercation later escalated and both men exchanged gunfire, leading to both men getting shot.
