WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Wichita fire crews were able to get a fire under control rather quickly. The fire broke out in the 2300 S. Cypress around 9:45 a.m.

The Wichita Fire Department initially received information that people were trapped inside, but no one was found. The fire was confined to the basement.

“We had a difficult time working around all the household items that were scattered throughout the house, particularly in the basement, high piles of linens, and stuff like that. It took a lot of effort to get the searches done and to get to the scene of the fire in the basement.” Battalion Chief Mike Crosby, Wichita Fire Department, said.

One firefighter was treated at the scene for an injury and transported. Crosby said his injury wasn’t serious.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
