WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Kansas Highway Patrol says a driver in Ottawa County was caught going 104 mph in a 70 mph zone.

It happened on U.S. Highway 81, a few miles southeast of Delphos and about 28 miles north of Salina.

Trooper J. Davis was using radar as the driver sped by in the northbound lanes.

The ticket shows the fine for going that fast in a 70 mph zone is $255. When you add the docket fee, the ticket cost is $363.

Troopers have been catching many drivers exceeding 100 mph. In July, the KHP said troopers had issued more than 1,500 citations for speeds greater than 100 mph this year.
