WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita police have made an arrest in connection to the fatal hit-and-run crash that killed Tad Doyle.

Police said a 23-year-old Wichita man was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

The arrest comes after Doyle was hit while riding an electric bicycle with his girlfriend, Mindy Ward, north in the 2400 block of N. Hoover Rd. on Aug. 18 around 2:09 a.m. Police arrived on the scene and found Doyle unresponsive.

WPD said Doyle was hit by a car that continued to drive north. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mindy Ward told KSN News that she was left helpless as the driver took off without stopping, leaving her boyfriend to die right before her eyes.

“So hurt and mad because they left, and I couldn’t help him properly or try to because I needed help moving him,” Ward said.

Police have not released the suspect’s name at this time.

The case facts will be presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney for formal charges. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to come forward and contact Wichita Police Investigators at 316-268-4407 .

KSN does not name suspects until they have been formally charged.
