WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — McConnell Air Force Base said 115 people at the Frontiers in Flight airshow received medical treatment on Saturday. 17 were hospitalized.

A news release from McConnell said most of the medical treatments were for heat-related conditions.

The base took several measures before the airshow to help visitors and staff mitigate the heat. These included allowing visitors to bring their own water containers, offering free water refill stations, cooling tents, and even setting up a misting tent.

Additionally, a number of medical personnel from McConnell and volunteers from surrounding medical agencies were on site in first aid tents and around the airshow area.

The airshow concluded at 5 p.m. and will resume Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. McConnell said Sunday’s temperatures mirror Saturday’s, and guests wanting to attend are encouraged to bring plastic water containers to use and refill at the free refill stations, hydrate and pace themselves.
