There is another cold front in the northwest portion of the country that will come through later this week. In the meantime, most high temperatures will stay toasty.

There is a chance for a shower or storm around midday between Western and Central Kansas. A better chance for storms late in the day will favor northeastern parts of the area.

This is also where there is a risk for a strong to severe storm. Damaging wind gusts and large hail are the main threats.

Most of this stormy activity will lift outside of the area through the night. There could still be some rain farther south and west but most of us will be dry.

Wednesday will be a similar day to Tuesday. Highs will mainly be in the 90s and rain chances will be low.

The potent cold front starts to slide in through Thursday. A shower or storm will be possible to the west Wednesday night before better chances start to line up as winds switch out of the north.

So far, a strong to severe storm will be possible to the north late Thursday. It would not be a surprise to see Thursday’s severe risk expand into more of our counties.

Showers and storms will be around through Thursday night. Everyone will feel the effects of the front by Friday.

Another reinforcing shot of cooler air Sunday will take temperatures down to the upper 70s and lower 80s by Labor Day. Showers and storms will be around at times through the holiday weekend but it does not look like a washout.
