Mainly clear skies and light winds overnight allowed for temperatures to cool into the 50s to around 60.

Isolated late-night showers and a few rumbles of thunder developed after midnight in parts of far western Kansas.

Spotty shower activity across western Kansas will dissipate quickly early today while an isolated shower may clip the northern counties.

Otherwise, we have a mostly sunny Sunday ahead with temperatures warmer than Saturday. Highs will range from the lower 80s in central Kansas to near 90 in the Northwest this afternoon. Winds will become gusty at times in western and northern Kansas today.

Warmer temperatures are due to yesterday’s east winds swing into the south today as the center of Candian high pressure slides into the Ohio River Valley.

It should be another great day to head out to the State Fair in Hutchinson today and Monday looks good as well.

A weak trough of low pressure over eastern Colorado will provide just enough lift to produce some isolated shower or thunderstorm activity overnight in far western Kansas.

The bulk of Kansas will have a clear Sunday night with temperatures cooling into the 50s statewide by early Monday morning.

The warmup continues Monday with an isolated shower or storm in the northwest. Other than that, sunshine will dominate for the first day of the work week with a gusty southerly wind.

Temperatures will remain warm right through next weekend as southerly winds rule the roost.

A system passing to our north and west late this week into next weekend could bring some much-needed rainfall to Kansas. At this point, it doesn’t look very widespread or heavy, however.
