    First clue for $5,000 Manhattan treasure hunt released

    MANHATTAN ( KSNT ) – The search for a $5,000 cash prize hidden somewhere near the Little Apple is officially on this Friday.

    Outdoor Bank has release the first clue for its treasure hunt on Aug. 16. Treasure seekers are now encouraged to use the clue to located a hidden prize containing $5,000. The first clue is below:

    “Where hills roll wide and trails wind tight, seek a place with history in sight.

    Generations ago, travelers bold

    From eastern lands, their stories told.

    Find the spot where they did rest, and there you’ll find your hidden quest.”

    Outdoor Bank will issue new clues on Fridays until the prize is eventually found. People are encouraged to head outdoors with friends or solo to find the prize and claim the cash.

    The search area consists of several areas in and around the City of Manhattan. Notable places included within this zone include Pillsbury Crossing, Tuttle Creek Lake, Konza Prairie Biological Station and Pottawatomie County State Lake #2. The treasure is hidden on public ground like a trail, park and other public space.

    Treasure hunters are also to not damage anything while they are searching for the prize and be respectful of fellow hunters and nature. Other tips Outdoor Bank wants people to follow or know about include:

    • The treasure is not hidden in a cemetery.
    • It can be found on public property.
    • Follow all posted signs.
    • No digging or climbing is required.
