    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Officials said multiple highway projects planned for Arkansas will proceed after an infusion of federal funding.

    The Arkansas Department of Transportation announced Wednesday that it is slated to receive $91 million for six projects through the Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development appropriation for the Federal Fiscal Year 2024.

    The six projects will expand highway capacity throughout the state. They are:

    • Interstate 49 between Barling and Alma, funded at $67 million;
    • Future Interstate 57 from Walnut Ridge to the Missouri state line, funded at $6 million;
    • Highway 10 Greenwood Bypass, funded at $5 million;
    • Highway 82 Corridor improvements in Ashley, Chicot, Columbia, and Union counties, funded at $5 million;
    • Highway 412 Corridor improvements in its Interstate 49 interface, funded at $5 million;
    • Highway 412 Corridor improvements in northern Arkansas, funded at $3 million.

    Arkansas Highway Commission Chairman Alec Farmer said the projects were important for the future of the Natural State.

    “These projects will have a lasting impact on transportation in Arkansas. Moving us toward completion of future Interstates, be it Interstate 57 or Interstate 49; or east-west corridors like Highway 412 in northern Arkansas and Highway 82 in southern Arkansas; or investing in a bypass that will provide congestion relief and safe travel alternatives in and around Greenwood, are strong commitments to our future,” Farmer said.
