TEXARKANA, Texas/Ark. ( KTAL/KMSS ) – Main Street Texarkana invited residents to ‘Imagine the Possibilities’ Friday evening.

“Our downtown is the heart of the community,” said Ina McDowell, Executive Director of Main Street Texarkana.

Main Street Texarkana highlighted the work being done to revitalize that heart with the ‘Imagine the Possibilities’ tour during the monthly Downtown Live celebrations.

“That is an opportunity to tour some of the buildings that we have in our downtown area that are available for sale or lease, and It’s just really a fun time to come in and look at some of these buildings that might not be normally open.” said McDowell, “Some of them actually are a work in progress.”

The Texarkana library is included in the plans.

“We’re excited about that we have vision for improvements is our Texarkana public library,” said McDowell.

Many of the unutilized buildings along Broad Street are also included, like the old National Bank building.

“The plans for the space is going to be an event space, a venue space. And also there are going to be more than 60 shared apartment and office spaces,” said Kayleigh Moreland, Executive Planner for Texarkana Historic Properties.

They are using new technology like 3D printing to recreate the crown molding while also highlighting the history of the building.

“A part of why I specifically like what we’re doing here is we salvage a lot of the raw materials in the course of construction that we later reuse and repurpose into the new design,” said Moreland.

They hope to display the momentum behind bringing downtown Texarkana back to life.

“There’s there’s a lot that’s going on now, and there’s definitely more to come,” said McDowell.
