GRAND FORKS, ND ( KXNET ) — The United States Border Patrol’s Grand Forks Sector is reminding citizens that they, too, can stop illicit cross-border activity.

How? Through their campaign, “See Something? Say Something!”

According to the CBC, there’s been a sharp rise in illegal border crossings from Canada to the U.S., going from under a hundred a month three years ago to almost 2,000 in April 2024.

Border Patrol says some of the people illegally crossing the border are on the terror watch-list.

Patrol agents say this is due to Canadian foreign policy, with Canada only making travel policies for foreign nationals more stringent recently.

The U.S. Border Patrol Grand Forks Sector has decided to do something about this by continuing the See Something? Say Something campaign. This is a national campaign that hopes to raise public awareness on signs of terrorism and terrorism-related crime.

Suspicious activity can include people who look like they’re out of place, who are behaving unnaturally, who cover up themselves or what they’re traveling with, and more.

If you see suspicious activity, call Grand Forks Sector dispatch at (701) 772-3056. And if it’s an emergency, always call 911.
