BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — 1969’s Woodstock is being brought into the modern era with a paw-sitive spin. And while the Grateful Dead might not be headlining, there were plenty of grateful dogs and cats featured during today’s 8th Annual Woofstock.

Averaging about 1,500 attendees, this year’s Woofstock at Buckstop Junction comes with live music, a silent auction, food trucks, a bake sale, cash bar, dunk tank, money machine, and a meet-and-greet for adoptable pets.

Put on by Furry Friends Rockin’ Rescue, Woofstock brings peace to pets by giving the Bismarck pet rescue an opportunity to raise crucial funding to keep their business alive.

According to the executive director of Furry Friends, the shelter spends about $20- to $30,000 on vet bills each month.

And with hundreds of cats and dogs in their foster network, events like Woofstock are imperative for making sure their animals receive the best care possible.

Staff members say they hope this year’s Woofstock will bring in $20,000 from vendor proceeds, personal donations, and adoption fees.

Furry Friends also gives back to the community through this event. Children under 15 have the opportunity to win a bike through drawings every hour.

    The even ran from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.
