BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET )— In her investiture ceremony on Tuesday, a grateful, emotion-filled Amanda Harris offered her gratitude as the new Bismarck Municipal Court Judge.

Harris won the election in June. She succeeds Judge William Severin, who retired in 2022, after serving more than 40 years.

Judge Harris said she doesn’t expect to serve as long as her predecessor, but she’ll serve as long as she does her job well.

“I hope not to be serving that long,” she states, “because I’ll be well into my eighties. But if the job calls, I would like to be in this position for a very long time and serve the City of Bismarck.”

As far as her private law practice, Harris Law Office, PLLC, the judge said she will be winding things up to concentrate full-time on her new job.
