Central McLean Cougars prepare for new season

BISMARCK N.D.– When you look at the 2023 schedule for the Central Mclean Cougars… you won’t see very many losses. However, one of those losses came in the first round of the playoffs. This year the Cougars are looking to repeat their regular season success while also stacking a couple wins in the post season.

“I think we got a lot of kids coming back with experience. I think that helps out a lot, with that going on. So hopefully, being able to make playoffs you always want that as a goal for your team obviously,” Cougars head coach Grant Singer said. “So being able to get there was great, but never be satisfied with that, right? And so I think a lot of those kids coming back that played in that playoff game want more than that. And so I think that drives them in the off-season it drives them, in this season you know, to get to a point where they want to do better this year than they did last year.”

And one of those experienced players is quarterback Aiden Hanson… Hanson is a junior this year, but his time starting as a sophomore has prepared him well for this upcoming season.

“Gives me a lot more experience you know, knowing what’s going to come, knowing a lot of the plays already, not having to learn them like my junior year or whatever,” Hanson said. “And know how to play with all the guys now.”

“Yeah he’ll be coming back and I think that’s going to be big for him, having a year under his belt, you know,” Singer said. “He jumps from that sophomore to junior year now, and so just having that experience is going to help him out immensely”
