EMERADO, ND ( KXNET ) — A 29-year-old Grand Forks man was severely injured Monday night in a motorcycle rollover following a police chase near Emerado.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, around 10:15 p.m. on August 26, the motorcycle was traveling east on U.S. Highway 2 when it was clocked going 97 miles per hour by a highway patrol trooper.

The trooper attempted to catch up to the motorcycle to stop it for a speeding violation. After the trooper activated his emergency red and blue lights, the motorcycle drifted off the roadway into the median, rolled and the driver was ejected.

The driver was taken to Altru Hospital for treatment of serious injuries sustained in the rollover.
