MEDORA, ND ( KXNET ) — Over the next few months, the rates to use Theodore Roosevelt National Park’s campgrounds will be increasing in several areas.

Fees provide an essential source of revenue for national parks, and pay for facility maintenance, improvement projects, and the increased costs associated with campground operations. Past upgrades to the park — including comfort stations, accessible walkways, and trail work — have all been paid for using these funds.

The Cottonwood and Juniper Campgrounds will now be $10 from October 1 through May 15, and $20 from May 15 through September 30. Both are half-price for anyone with a valid Senior Pass or Access Pass. Group sites will be $60 at either location.

Individual sites at Roundup Group Horse Camp will be $70 during this time, and reservations for group sites can be requested online starting March 1, 2025. The Horse Camp is closed from November 1 through May 14.

Cottonwood and Juniper sites can be reserved from May 15 through September 30, and the Roundup Group Horse Camp can be reserved from May 15 to October 31.

Park maintenance crews are planning on using the funds from these price hikes to rehabilitate the water and wastewater systems in the campgrounds, replace sidewalks in walking areas, and restore the historic fencing at Peace Valley Ranch.

The new rates will be placed in effect on October 1st. For more information about campgrounds, camping rates, and the park itself, visit its website here.
