    MANDAN, ND ( KXNET ) — A day that changed everything: September 11, 2001.

It changed lives, communities, and the nation, forever.

The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF) is hosting the 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb to honor and remember the bravery that was displayed by the firefighters in New York who gave their lives so that others might live.

Locally, people can join the 2024 Bisman 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on September 11 at the Starion Sports Complex in Mandan.

Things to do around town: September 2-8

Everyone who participates will pay tribute to a New York firefighter by climbing 2,200 steps, which represents the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

Not only are you remembering the sacrifice made, but you’re also symbolically completing the heroic journey to save others.

“The National Fallen Firefighters Foundation’s 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs are an opportunity for anyone in the community to demonstrate respect and admiration for these courageous firefighters who gave their lives trying to save others,” said Victor Stagnaro, the CEO of NFFF. “It’s also a way to promise their loved ones that we will always remember.”
